Title: Medical Science Liaison – Multiple Sclerosis

Role

The Medical Science Liaison (MSL) is a field-based regional Medical Affairs professional.  Responsibilities include providing medical and scientific education and support for TG Therapeutics’ multiple sclerosis (pipeline and launch) products. The MSL will demonstrate scientific, clinical and therapeutic area expertise by providing timely medical information/education in support of fair-balanced scientific exchange with Neurologists, additional relevant HCPs, with the overarching goal of ensuring the safe and effective use of, as well as access to TG’s multiple sclerosis medicines. Audiences include Pharmacy Directors and P&T committee members, across diverse practice settings (i.e., Large-Group Practices, Integrated Health Systems and Academic Medical Centers) as well as Managed Markets customers.  In addition to providing information on the clinical efficacy and safety, the MSL will also be proficient in Healthcare Economic Information (HCEI) in order to communicate value to appropriate population of healthcare decision makers, value-based providers and payers audiences.

Reporting into the Vice President of Medical Affairs, the MSL team is a critical role in TG Therapeutics’ customer-facing field model, collaborating compliantly with cross-functional teams including Sales, Account Management, Marketing and Market Access to provide deep clinical support, education and ensure a best first customer experience consistent with Medical Affairs objectives. This individual will be responsible for developing and enhancing Key Opinion Leader (KOL) relationships and requires established credibility to engage top national and regional thought leaders and clinical leadership.

Key Responsibilities

KOL identification and engagement across the assigned geography (N= ~50 KOLs per region). Cultivate and develop peer-level relationships with medical and scientific experts, including Healthcare professionals and Managed Markets customers and influencers.

Garner treatment and therapeutic area insights – maintain expertise in disease state management, emerging therapies, as well as the competitive landscape:

———–– Provide actionable information and insights that inform TG strategies.

Utilize effective, professional communications to cultivate strong working relationships with internal and external colleagues, demonstrate flexibility in approach to people and situations.

Function with a high level of diplomacy while communicating confidently – Actively listen to others and be adept at stating expert opinion while respecting the views of others.

Understand the relevant healthcare systems, the evolving medical landscape, regulatory and payer environment, public health and industry trends.

Scientific exchange and clinical support – Conduct scientific exchange, provide timely education and clinical support on disease state (e.g. unmet need, burden of illness) and product differentiation across approved indications including mechanism of action (MOA) and clinical efficacy/safety to execute on:

———–– Appropriate data dissemination and presentations

———–– Pipeline presentations upon unsolicited request

———–– Data presentations (nationally and regionally) including congress presence/engagement

———–– Attendance at advocacy group events, MS network events, and grand rounds where appropriate

———–– Participation in national and regional advisory boards

———–– Support of regional/national conferences as well as relevant therapeutic area related webinars

Respond to unsolicited questions – Respond to customer inquiries or MIRFs in a timely fashion to ensure focused and balanced clinical and scientific information that supports the appropriate use of products and services.

Present Clinical/Economic data to Pharmacy and Medical to support access through protocols, EMR, and Pathways:

———–– Educate key accounts and population health decision-makers on product value proposition and HCEI including FDAMA114 dynamic tools and presentations.

Support Market Access Customer understanding of clinical and economic profile:

———–– Execute on pre-approval payer communications and engagement.

Triage investigator-initiated studies, KOL open research questions, and scientific areas of interest to home office Medical Affairs team for evaluation.

Assume the following national leadership roles as needed across the team: TA Lead, Congress Lead, Tech Lead, Journal Club Lead, Insights Lead, COVID-19 dashboard/SWOT Lead

Professional Experience/Qualifications

We are looking for seasoned team oriented professionals with high energy, integrity and drive;  people with the relevant experiences in the functions above, as well as the requisite scientific and therapeutics area expertise. We value deep customer-focus and robust knowledge of Multiple Sclerosis KOLs along with the demonstrated ability to engage and discuss scientific and clinical content across multiple audiences.  The preferred candidate exemplifies the following criteria:

Minimum of 5 years related work experience (clinical, managed care, or industry experience)

Multiple Sclerosis experience in competitive and fast-moving therapeutic areas with top-tier KOLs is required

Existing strong customer and KOL relationships in prioritized centers of excellence and geographies is a plus

Self-starter with ability to partner and work with colleagues and customers from diverse backgrounds

Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills with proven ability to communicate ideas and clinical data both verbally and written in a credible and appropriate manner

Ability to gain consistent access and develop strong, professional relationships for scientific exchange with clinics, academic medical centers and KOLs

Operate and execute in a compliant manner in conjunction with legal guidelines and understand the legal and compliance environment

Ability to travel including overnight trips based on company and product launch needs (50%-75%)

Education

Advanced Clinical/Science Degree required (e.g., MD, PharmD, PhD, MSN, NP, PA etc.).

BSN with extensive clinical experience may be considered
